Can I Really Rock Out at a U2 Concert with my Daughter??

After six months of anticipation, I'm off to St Louis this weekend to see U2...with my 17 year old daughter! But I'm wondering, can I let loose and rock out in front of Erin, who will probably be horrified to see her mom dancing in the aisles?

Years ago I was a rock DJ.  FUN times--oh the memories.  Meeting the bands, backstage passes, getting autographs, slicing open the sleeve of that new  LP, studying the liner notes and relating to the lyrics. I remember seeing U2 here in Kansas City on the "War" tour, Bono climbing in the balconies and  waving the white flag. Even remember the first time I heard "I Will Follow" on the radio--that guitar sound, so different, that hook--so memorable. Have been a loyal fan since then. Haven't seen the boys live for many years and I'm very psyched to see a great show.

Rock music lovers, you know how a remarkable, well crafted song can lift you up, taking you into the clouds for an altered state for a few minutes.  You either want to sit still with your eyes closed and feel the tingles all over your body, or you have to move, move, move to the beat of the music with adrenaline mainlining the  melody directly into your veins. That's how this show will be for me...a sort of spiritual state of the power of music, affecting me physically and mentally.  Erin, I'm going to have to dance!

It's a special bond though, sharing the music of U2 with her.  She likes a lot of other 'boomer' bands that I introduced to her: The Police, Springsteen, Elvis Costello. And she's recommended many newer bands to me that I really like:  Arcade Fire, Black Keys, Modest Mouse.  I'm glad she will be along  to share the experience..and there's another mom/daughter coming with us so there will be two 50 yr olds acting like the two 17 year olds!

So bring it on, Bono and bandmates, we will be ready for you.  And I'll remind Erin that Bono isn't that much younger than I!
